Our Story: The Dr. Joakim Peter Memorial Scholarship was created on June 1, 2019 by some of Jojoʻs closest friends, colleagues, mentees, teachers to keep the memories and legacy of Jojo alive among the young generation of COFA college students. Read more>
Scholarship Board: The Scholarship Board, comprising of some of the founders, are responsible for setting the vision, policies, and procedures of the scholarship. Read more>
Founders Council: The Founders Council (aka Team Jojo) comprises of the founders of this scholarship who serve as scholarship ambassadors to keep the scholarship recipients grounded in Jojo’s memories and values. Read more>
Sponsor: The Dr. Joakim Peter Memorial Scholarship Fund was initially fiscally administered by the Micronesians United – Big Island (MU-BI), a Hilo-based 501(c)3 non-profit organization supporting the success of Micronesians in Hawaii. Starting in April 2022, the scholarship will be fiscally administered by We Are Oceania (WAO), a Honolulu-based 501(c)3 non-profit organization that was co-founded by the late Dr. Joakim Peter. A+JOJO Scholars: All recipients of the Dr. Joakim Peter Memorial Scholarship are officially part of the A+JOJO Scholars Program to develop their leadership skills, receive career and academic support, and be mentored by an appropriate COFA professional in their chosen field of studies and career aspirations.
